Accutane, RoAccutane Dosage :
Initially 0.5 mg/kg body weight/day. Maintenance: 0.1-1 mg/kg body weight/day. Max: 1 mg/kg body weight/day, for a limited period of time. Duration of treatment: 16 weeks. Resuming treatment should be done after an 8-weeks interval.

Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant while undergoing treatment & women of childbearing potential. Hepatic or renal insufficiency. Hypervitaminosis A. Patients week(s)/ elevated blood lipid values. Supplementary treatment week(s) tetracycline.

Diabetes, obesity, alcoholism, disturbances of lipid metabolism. Avoid exposure to sunlight or radiation therapy week(s) ultraviolet light. Monitor serum triglyceride levels (fasting value) prior to, 1 month after start of therapy & at the end of therapy. Monitor liver function prior to 1 month after start of therapy & at 3 monthly intervals thereafter. History of depression. Avoid aggression dermabrasion & wax epilation for a period of 5-6 months after treatment. May affect ability ot drive or operate machinery.

Dryness of the skin & mucosa; exanthema, pruritus, facial erythema, dermatitis, sweating, pyogenic granuloma, paronychia, nail dystrophy, increased for matinon of granulation tissue, persistent hair thinning, reversible alopecia, acne fulminans, hirsutism, hyprepigmentation, photosensitivity; muscle pain, joint pain, hyperostosis, calcification of ligaments & tendon; behavioraldisorders, depression, headache, increased intracranial pressure, seizures; increase in transaminases; bronchospasm; blood disorders; increased intracranial pressure, seizures; nausea, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis; increase in transaminases; bronchospasm; blood disorders; increase in serumyriglyceride & cholesterol, hyperuricemia, decrease in high-density lipoprotein; local or systemic infections; lymphadenopathy, hematuria, proteninuria, vasculitis.
