Uses:

• Take this medicine exactly as your doctor ordered.
• Take the capsules with food.
• Keep taking the medicine for as long as your doctor tells you to. It may take several months for the medicine to dissolve the stones.

• Take the missed dose as soon as possible.
• If it is almost time for your next regular dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose.
• You should not use two doses at the same time.

Storage:

• Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.

Special precautions:

• You should not use ursodiol with antacids that contain aluminum (ALternaGEL®, Maalox®, Mylanta®, and others).
• Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking Questran® or Colestid®, or other medicine to lower cholesterol, estrogens, or birth control pills.

Warnings:

• Check with your doctor before taking ursodiol if you have bile duct problems or pancreas inflammation.
• Talk with your doctor before taking ursodiol if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You may need to see your doctor for regular tests to make sure your liver is working properly and that the gallstone is dissolving.

Side Effects:

• Severe stomach pain especially on the right upper side
• Severe nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea, constipation, or gas
• Headache
• Indigestion or a metallic taste in the mouth
• Itching, dry skin or hair thinning
