Contraindications:
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to salsalate, aspirin, or pain and arthritis medicine such as Motrin® or Aleve®. Salsalate should not be given to children or teenagers with fever, symptoms of the flu, chicken pox, or viral infection. You should not use this medicine if you have an active ulcer or bleeding problem
Uses:
Capsule, Tablet
Your doctor will tell you how much to take and how often.
Swallow the pill whole; do not crush, break, or chew.
Take this medicine with food or milk to avoid stomach upset.
If a dose is missed:
May be taken as soon as possible.
Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose.
You should not use two doses at the same time.
Storage:
Store in a tightly closed container at room temperature, away from heat, direct light, or moisture.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
Special precautions:
Before taking, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any medications. tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart failure or liver disease. tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking, call your doctor
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking salsalate.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking blood-thinners (Coumadin®), probenecid, cortisone medicine (prednisone), or methotrexate.
Warnings:
Check with your doctor before taking if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have asthma, kidney problems or a history of ulcers.
Salsalate may cause incorrect results with some urine sugar tests used by patients with diabetes.
