Oxaprozin (Oral)

Contraindications:
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to oxaprozin, aspirin, or any pain and arthritis medicines such as Motrin®, Indocin®, Naprosyn® or Aleve®, Tolectin®, or Clinoril®. The reaction may have included wheezing or trouble breathing, hives, rash, or swelling in the face.
Uses:

Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to take and how often.

Take the medicine with a full glass of water.

You may take the medicine with food, milk, or antacids (such as Maalox® or Mylanta®) so it does not upset your stomach.
If a dose is missed:

Take the medicine as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose.

Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next regular dose.

You should not use two doses at the same time.
Storage:

Store at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
Special precautions:
Before taking, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any medications. tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart failure or liver disease. tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking, call your doctor

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.

Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking aspirin, blood thinners such as Coumadin®, or medicines called beta blockers (such as Inderal® and Lopressor®).
Warnings:

Check with your doctor before taking oxaprozin if you have liver or kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, blood disorders, or ulcers or other stomach problems.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking oxaprozin.

Ulcers and stomach bleeding are sometimes caused by this type of medicine. These problems can occur without warning signs. You may need to see your doctor for regular check-ups while taking this medicine.
