You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to lansoprazole
Uses:
Delayed Release Capsule
Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how often.
Take your medicine before eating.
It is best to swallow the capsule whole. But if you have trouble swallowing the capsule, open it and sprinkle the granules on a spoonful of applesauce or other soft food. Swallow the medicine right away. Do not chew the granules.
Do not stop taking this medicine until your doctor tells you to, even if you feel better.
If a dose is missed:
Take your medicine as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose.
Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next usual dose.
You should not use two doses at the same time.
Storage:
Store the capsules at room temperature, away from heat and direct light.
Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
Special precautions:
Before taking, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any medications. tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart failure or liver disease. tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking, call your doctor
Make sure your doctor knows if you are also taking theophylline, sucralfate (Carafate®), iron, amoxicillin, or ketoconazole.
Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco because these things can increase your stomach acid.
Warnings:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
Make sure your doctor knows if you have liver disease or any blood disorders.
Side Effects:
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
Chest pain
Trouble breathing or hives
Black, tarry stools, bloody vomit or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
