Chenodiol (Oral)
Dissolves certain kinds of gallstones in the body when they cannot be removed by surgery
Contraindications:
You should not use this medicine if you are pregnant or if you have pancreas inflammation, liver disease, or bile duct problems. This medicine should not be used if you have had an allergic reaction to chenodiol or other bile acids

You may take the tablets with food.

If a dose is missed:

Take the missed dose as soon as possible.

Store at room temperature, away from light, heat, or moisture.

Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
Special precautions:

You should not use chenodiol with antacids that contain aluminum (ALternaGEL®, Maalox®, Mylanta®, and others).

Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking Questran®, Colestid®, or other medicine to lower cholesterol, estrogens, or birth control pills.
Warnings:

Check with your doctor before taking chenodiol if you are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while being treated with this medicine, tell your doctor right away.

While being treated with the medicine it is important to see your doctor for regular tests to make sure that your liver is working properly and that the gallstone is dissolving.
Side Effects:
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

Severe stomach pain, especially on the right upper side

Severe nausea and vomiting.

Diarrhea or constipation

Gas or indigestion
