You should not use this medicine if you have ever had an allergic reaction to carisoprodol, meprobamate (Miltown®, Equagesic®), or aspirin. You should not use if you have bleeding disorders, porphyria, or active ulcers. This compound should not be given to children or teenagers with fever or flu symptoms unless approved by a physician
Uses:
Tablet
Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to take and how often.
You may take your medicine with food or milk to avoid stomach upset.
If a dose is missed:
Take your medicine as soon as you remember that you have missed your dose.
If it is nearly time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose.
You should not use two doses at the same time.
Storage:
Keep your tablets at room temperature in a closed container, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
Keep all medicine away from children.
Special precautions:
Before taking, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to any medications. tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking. tell your doctor if you have or have ever had heart failure or liver disease. tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking, call your doctor
Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking blood-thinners (Coumadin®) or MAO inhibitors such as Nardil®, Marplan®, or Parnate® while taking this medicine.
Avoid drinking alcohol.
Avoid taking medicines that may make you sleepy such as tranquilizers, sleeping pills, cold and allergy medicines, or narcotic pain-killers.
Warnings:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
Make sure your doctor knows if you have liver or kidney disease.
Carisoprodol may make you drowsy. Be careful while driving a car or operating machinery.
To avoid dizziness from this medicine, stand up slowly from a lying or sitting position.
