Ammonium Lactate (Topical)
Treats dry, scaly skin conditions called xerosis (zer-OH-sis) or itchthyosis (ik-thee-OH-sis).

Contraindications:
You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to ammonium lactate.
Uses:

Your doctor will tell you how much of this medicine to apply and how often. Do not use more medicine or apply it more often than your doctor tells you to.

This medicine is for use on the skin only. Do not get it near your eyes, nose, or mouth. Do not use on skin areas that have cuts or scrapes, or where you have recently shaved. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away.

Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine. Shake the lotion well just before each use.

Apply a thin layer to the affected area and rub it in gently.

Never share your medicine with anyone.
If a dose is missed:

If you miss a dose or forget to use your medicine, apply it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to apply the medicine and skip the missed dose.

Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Storage:

Store the medicine at room temperature, away from heat and direct light.

Keep all medicine away from children.
Special precautions:

This medicine may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing when you are outdoors. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds.

If your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse, stop using this medicine and call your doctor.
Side Effects:
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

Peeling, hives, or raised areas on treated skin

Severe skin itching, rash, or redness

Changes in skin color

Mild skin itching or dryness

Stinging or burning of treated skin areas
